Game and Chat

Connection doesn't always need eye contact, small talk, or a script to follow. Sometimes it just needs a shared world, a common goal, and someone alongside you who gets it. Game and Chat is a space where we play together online, and let whatever needs to happen, happen, whether that's therapeutic work, real conversation, or simply the quiet comfort of being alongside another person.

For some, gaming is the doorway into things that feel too hard to approach head on, like emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, communication, decision-making, or working through a difficult relationship dynamic in a way that feels safe and indirect. For others, it's simply a low-demand way to be around another person without the pressure of performing connection. Both are valid and welcome here.

I tailor every session to you, drawing on established therapeutic methods used within play and game-based therapy, including cognitive-behavioural techniques woven into gameplay, narrative therapy through the stories we build in-game, and mindfulness and grounding through the focus games naturally invite. Game-based therapeutic work is a recognised and growing modality, particularly for neurodivergent clients who often find it a more natural and accessible bridge to connection and growth than traditional talk-based formats.

Just you, me, and a shared world where connection can happen your way.

How We Play

Sessions can take a few different approaches, depending on what suits you:

  • Multiplayer – playing the same game together, in the same online server or via Zoom.

  • Co-op – working together toward a shared goal, building teamwork and communication along the way

  • Parallel play – each on our own games, sharing the space and company without needing to interact constantly

All sessions are run online.

The format

Each session is for 50 minutes (private paying client) or 1 hour (NDIS client). You choose the game, or I can suggest something suited to what you're working through.

In our first session, I'll take time to get to know you, your gaming preferences, and what you're hoping to get from our time together. We'll gently explore your goals and design an approach that feels meaningful, whether that's therapeutic, social, or a bit of both.

There's no one-size-fits-all here. I draw from a rich range of evidence-informed approaches, adapted for a gaming context, including:

  • Game therapy

  • Narrative and strengths-based frameworks

  • Mindfulness and grounding practices

  • Trauma-informed care

  • Neurodiversity-embracing approaches

A Safe, Judgement-Free Space

This is a space where you're not expected to perform, explain, or be anything other than who you are. Camera on or off, chatty or quiet, competitive or laid-back, however you show up is welcome. Confidentiality and trust are at the heart of this work, whether we're deep in a shared quest or quietly playing parallel.
